We are so happy you have made it to our website. I wanted to share a back story on where Well.Products began and the journey so far so you can learn more about us and what we do. Also the drive behind making our products more accessible and affordable for you.
Here's a story about how and why Well.Products came about.
I have always loved the warmth after growing up in a frosty Christchurch, New Zealand. Anything from hot pools, saunas, steam rooms, heat pumps or anything warm in general was happiness in my opinion. I absolutely loved going to The Olympic Pools & Fitness Centre in New Market, Auckland for a swimming sesh topped off with the sauna, steam etc. This was a once a month activity however and was often a 'treat' or activity with friends. Unfortunately the covid 19 pandemic put a stop to that for a while.
Now fast forward, It was nearing the end of 2021 and we had just came out of a very grueling lockdown in Auckland. Personally, I had been feeling stressed, overwhelmed and had too much time to dissect the walls of the small studio I lived in at the time. The tenancy was coming to an end, and the hunt began for a new home. Looking for a dishwasher and bathtub was hard to come by without spending what felt like $800 in rent per week without living with flat mates. I soon realised Auckland homes, are veeery compact. Most homes that were in my price range were unit style, apartment, studio options all without bathtubs. I love having a bathtub at home, I’m sure you do too. Light a candle, dim the light, set up a beverage, book and relax. One of the best ways to de-stress at home in my opinion.
At this time living near the bays, I started swimming in the water (cold, rain or shine). Instantly after I felt that I was 'living', I was full of life, feelings of euphoric and energy. I began researching 'ice baths' and why they were so great. Turns out this ‘euphoric’ feeling was the result of my body releasing endorphins. Cold water swims are insanely good in managing stress, energy and mood.
The time had come, that we had to move away from the ocean to find something more affordable. I began searching for portable bathtubs online (realising the ocean wasn't going to be a stone throw away any longer). Buying online from overseas had long waits, expensive shipping and wasn't cost effective. Since most of us can't live near the ocean It was from then I created Well.Products launching with our portable baths and our best seller portable saunas in New Zealand making it more affordable and accessible for everyone.
From experience I realise for most adults we have limited time as we try to manage all the things. It's just not sustainable to take out 3 hours of our day to drive, fork out on expensive membership fees and time away from loved ones frequently. With our products it takes minutes to set up and can all be done from the comfort of your own home while taking in all the benefits. It is our mission to make it easier and more affordable for you to take some time out for you. We encourage others to practice self care and to fill up their cup frequently. We know that when we look after ourselves we show up in the world better and that is why we do what we do.
